The Intensive Families Support Project (IFSP) offers additional help to disengaged families so that they become more able to participate in community activities in a positive way. The project adopts an holistic approach with the family and assesses the needs of the whole household through the completion of a participative support plan. Through this method referrals to service providers and services can meet identified needs.
The core target group are families with a young person aged 9 - 14 who would benefit from intensive support. It is envisaged that a maximum of 10 families (referred through appropriate agencies) will benefit over the next 12 months from the project.
A part-time coordinator is currently employed to coordinate all work associated with developing and implementing support plans for families.
This is a multi agency project and has a steering group consisting of: Social Services, Youth Offending Team, Education Leeds, North East Area Management, the Children’s Centre (formally Sure Start), Space 2 Cluster and Home - Start. Other agencies are welcome to join the steering group.
