Neighbourhood Improvement

There are a number of local arenas where you can get involved in decision-making. 

Area Committees have lots of influence, they were set up to make sure that local priorities are taken into account in the development of major strategies and policies. The full Council (where all 99 of the city’s elected representatives meet) has delegated the following powers to Area Committees:

• Youth Services
• CCTV
• Neighbourhood Wardens
• Re-cycling banks
• Community Centres

Any member of the public can attend the Area Committees and can request the opportunity to speak to the Area Committee.
